connecting Sydney Met strategy, execution and direction, and ensuring quality, compliance and accountability.
connecting Sydney Met strategy, execution and direction, and ensuring quality, compliance and accountability.
The governance model at Sydney Met is a robust structure that combines the principles of good governance, shared decision-making, and clear accountability. This model meets the regulatory requirements set by TEQSA under the HESF Domain 6: Governance and accountability requiring the College to self-assure its responsibility, accountability, and oversight as a provider of high-quality education, including responsibility for compliance with the HESF requirements. The Governance model comprises institutions, structures, systems, and roles for Sydney Met, ensuring accountable, ethical, and effective governance systems and practices for Sydney Met to deliver academic programs, compliant with the relevant policies and legislation.
The Sydney Met governance model has four tiers. The top of the tier is the college’s Board of Directors, comprising shareholders’ representatives, who set the overall strategic direction and ensure the college’s long-term financial sustainability. The BOD appoints the Governing Council (GC) through an Instrument of Appointment giving it responsibility for the governance of Sydney Met. The GC is the peak governing body of the College, reporting to the BoD through its Chair. It sets the directions for, monitors and is accountable for all operations of Sydney Met. The GC may form committees as and when required. The Academic Board (AB) is the academic governing body within the College, reporting to the GC through its Chair. It is responsible to oversee and monitor the academic activities of the College and advising the GC on academic matters. The Executive Management (EM) is led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President, who is the senior officer responsible for College operations. The CEO is responsible for implementing the College’s vision and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the college. The academic leadership team, consisting of the Executive Dean and Department Heads, provides input on academic programs and policies, while faculty and staff offer a platform for staff and student voices to be heard. This collaborative approach enables effective decision-making, promotes transparency, and fosters a sense of community among Sydney Met stakeholders.

Sydney Met campus is located on the unceded territory of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation who are the traditional owners of the lands where the campus is situated. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We extend that respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Indigenous peoples from overseas presently studying, working, or contributing to Sydney Met.
